The Golden Way: Films that Make a Difference

The Golden Way Project: Films That Make a Difference, an initiative of the St.

Augustine Film Society, will show “Alive Inside.” This inspirational documentary is the story of MUSIC and MEMORY, a non-profit organization, dedicated to harnessing the power of personalized music to help individuals in nursing homes and other care facilities “rediscover the sound track of their lives.”

The 80-minute documentary will be shown Sunday, June 4 at 4:00 PM at The First United Methodist Church located at 118 King Street. The film will be followed by a panel discussion exploring the power of personalized music and memory and the larger issue of aging in America and other countries. Panelists include: Deborah Ferris, Regional Director for MUSIC and MEMORY and local experts from the Council of Aging and Riverside Cottages. In addition, Ms. Leah Black, a St. Augustine resident, who started a local GoFundMe effort to purchase iPods and record playlists, will discuss her efforts in St. Augustine.

Literature on local resources will be available. The event is free and open to the public. Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend.
