Marketing for the Independent Artist

Marketing for the Independent Artist

Presented by St. Johns Cultural Council at Fullerwood Training Center

In partnership with the National Arts Marketing Project (NAMP) of Americans for the Arts and the Community Foundation for NE Florida, the St. Johns Cultural Council will present Marketing for the Independent Artist. The workshop will be led by Deborah Obalil, Executive Director of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design in Providence Rhode Island. She is NAMP’s go-to expert on marketing for the independent artist and artist services.

This workshop is designed primarily for mid-career artists who are looking for new direction, making a change in their body of work, at a plateau and want to “step-up”, and are seeking to increase income or additional validation from the art world.

For gallery owners this will help in communication with artists and the arts consumer and help artists and gallery owners and managers to become better business partners.

Thanks to a Grant provided by the Art Ventures Endowment Fund of The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, there is no fee to attend the workshop. However, because space is limited participants must register with the Cultural Council no later than March 3.

Who should attend?
Visual artists in all media, crafters, gallery owners and managers, and artist agents. Independent artists in other genres such as music, literature and the performing artists may also gain insight that will assist their career development.

Artists are encouraged to bring an example of their work and any current marketing materials.

Participants should plan on bringing a “brown bag meal” to enjoy during the working lunch break.
