Stellers Gallery at Ponte Vedra Beach will exhibit the work of nationally-recognized painters Laura Lacambra Shubert and Dennis Campay. The opening exhibit will be held on Friday, April 24 from 6 pm until 9 pm at 240 A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach. The show celebrates the meeting of the two artists more than 20 years ago at one of their first exhibits together at Stellers. The new display will remain at the gallery until the end of May.

“Through centuries of art, fellow artists have been inspired by their peers. To continue this ongoing tradition, we are pleased to bring Laura and Dennis back together at Stellers,” said Hillary Tuttle, gallery owner. “Laura and Dennis have created an original art piece which is inspired by their respect for each other as creative professionals along with recognizing their unique skills and vision. The piece will be presented along with new works from each artist,” she said.

Lacambra Shubert’s loose strokes, thick with paint while offering light and rich character, stirs the imagination. Her paintings transcend the content of the initial image, allowing viewers to feel strong emotions of joy and warmth while focusing on themes of beauty and happiness in a suggestive manner. This optimistic and romantic concept celebrates the wonderful gifts encountered in daily life. Subjects as disparate as food, figures, landscapes and animals will be highlighted in the upcoming show.

“I like art that can communicate to people who don’t have a doctorate in art history. Anyone can feel or get something from my paintings. I’m seeking an intuitive and emotional response from the viewer,” said Lacambra Shubert.

According to Campay, drawing holds a central place in his paintings and sculptures and in the creative process. He explores and investigates through drawing, a language of marks that communicates different narratives which creates feelings, memories of environments, and elements of things that are encountered everyday.

He added, as the viewer experiences his work, they begin to discover feelings and memories that may intertwine with his or not, while creating a kaleidoscope of stories allowing the work to grow with the viewer through the lens of the experience of life. “My images represent a period of time - a glimpse into the ongoing evolution of a body of work. Perhaps you will see a story here that resonates with your own,” said Campay.
