Holiday Traditions: Amahl and the Night Visitors

Holiday Traditions: Amahl and the Night Visitors

Presented by EMMA Concert Association at Flagler College - Lewis Auditorium

As you enter the lobby of the lovely Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, a truly festive mood will greet you with a serenade of favorite holiday songs. Take your family to enjoy one of America's most popular operas as well as engaging in EMMA's traditional holiday sing-along. This is a wonderful opportunity to see Amahl and the Night Visitors which is performed throughout the country and around the world every holiday season. Amahl and the Night Visitors was the first opera to be written specifically for television and debuted on NBC on December, 24, 1951. What better theme to share with friends and family than the beautiful message of this opera: "it is better to give than to receive."

Place: Near Bethlehem. Time: The first century, just after the birth of Christ.
One night in Judea, a disabled shepherd boy-turned-beggar and his mother are visited by 3 strangers. These 3 strangers are the Three Kings on their way to Bethlelem to visit the Christ Child, who has just been born. Come and discover what happens!
