SEA’s Festival will return to the newly built Rail head on Dec 2 & 3. It begins with a bike tour on the Rails to Trails corridor & hiking & pony rides, Gullah & other food & crafts & exhibits, live rock, soul, gospel, and R&B, Mende & SEA Films.
Groups of all ages will enjoy the live rock by Good Puppy & St Jax Band - soul, R&B , and smooth jazz by Amy Alysia & Soul Operation, Doug Carn & Co., R&B and old school favorites by Willie Green, and Little Jake & the Soul Searchers & Sunday's gospel music & songs. Additionally, the Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters will perform their West African/USA Coastal areas' influenced songs & dances. Food vendors will introduce you to Gullah Geechee low country boil, souse & brummege stew as well as modern day cuisine, including Alexia & Margaret's much touted among the bikers - sweet potato pies. Historic cultural arts and crafts booths will offer visitors a snapshot of the past - old hog swingeing pots, hand-made quilts, outfits, etc. A pony ride on Saturday, and other entertainment, will be offered, just for the kids!
The Mende Film Festival's films, and local Armstrong’s historical/cultural films will be enjoyed as well. Lastly, fact filled discussions will be held with SEA’s own Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor (GGHC) historians and SEA volunteers, donned in their period costumes – literally, an entire weekend of education, and entertainment & healthy outdoors activities. Fun is sure to be had by all.
