Spring Concert

Presented by North Florida Women's Chorale and Romanza at Memorial Presbyterian Church

As a Romanza Festivale event, the NORTH FLORIDA WOMEN'S CHORALE will perform the concert "A Mother's Love" at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 32 Sevilla Street, St Augustine on Saturday May 9 at Noon.

The program will include lullabies from many countries and cultures; settings of the "Ave Maria", by both Franz Biebl and Tomas Luis de Victoria; and a nostalgic nod to the kind of music sung "In My Mother's House," a remembrance of long ago times when families and friends often gathered and sang in their homes. Also included are the mirthful Three Poems by Jane Austen, her mother and her sister, set to music by Eleanor Daley. The program concludes with Rosephyne Powell's "Still I Rise," a rousing affirmation to women and mothers.

The celebrated St Augustine Youth Chorus will join the Chorale for several tributes to mothers and families. The youth chorus was founded by our Chorale Director, Kerry Fradley, in 2005 and continues to bring the lovely sounds of children's voices to North Florida audiences.

The Chorale, known for its commitment to presenting music composed written for and by women, is singing for the eighth year under the direction of Fradley, who recently received the ROWITA Award (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts) in St. John's County.

Nancy Hughes, formerly of the Washington DC Chorus' Chamber Ensemble, is our Accompanist.
