The Museum will celebrate International Archaeology Day with Nation’s Oldest Port® programs. International Archaeology Day is a celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery.
Every October the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) and archaeological organizations across the United States, Canada and abroad, present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests. Whether it is a family-friendly archaeology fair, a guided tour of a local archaeological site, a simulated dig, a lecture or a classroom visit from an archaeologist, the interactive, hands-on International Archaeology Day programs provide the chance to indulge your inner Indiana Jones. The Museum will recognize the day by offering Behind the Scenes Tours and the Tiny Clues program. Behind the Scenes Tours are offered five times daily starting at 11 AM with the last tour at 3 PM. The Tiny Clues program is a hands-on program offered twice daily focusing on the process of archaeology perfect for small children.
