"Smog of the Sea" - The story of the detrimental effect of plastic waste

Presented by St. Augustine Film Society and Saint Augustine Film Festival and Compassionate St. Augustine at Flagler College - Lewis Auditorium

Smog of the Sea”chronicles an expedition to explore the degradation of our world’s oceans due to plastic waste creating food chain disruption. Grammy Award winning artist and environmentalist Jack Johnson, a member of the expedition, composed the score. (30 min.)

PANEL DISCUSSION FOLLOWS - Experts from several NE FL Environmental Groups

“Turtle: The Incredible Journey” follows a little loggerhead turtle along the path of her ancestors on an extraordinary journey in the natural world. Born on a beach in Florida, she rides the Gulf Stream all the way to the frozen north and ultimately encounters a sea of plastic as she swims around the entire North Atlantic to Africa before returning home. There will also be musical entertainment provided by Lonesome Bert and the Peaceniks including the song "Plastic Island".
