World famous and American National Champion finger-style guitarist Richard Smith will be in concert on March 17th at the Whitney Lab Lohman auditorium under the joint auspices of the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival Inc. and the Whitney Laboratory.
Richard Smith hales from Nashville Tennessee and is an American National Finger-Style champion. His repertoire of music is simply...if you can play it on guitar, he can perform the number in such a way as to boggle your mind. He is also a very witty and engaging presence on stage in his banter between musical numbers as well as a moving vocalist on performance pieces that call for singing. He has performed in the St. Augustine area a few times previously to completely packed houses and has developed a very ardent following. Tickets for the March 17th concert at the Whitney Lab Lohman auditorium are $15 in advance ($20 the day of the show) and available locally at Music Matters (196 SR 312), Simple Gestures (4 White St.) and the Hammock Wine and Cheese Cafe (5368 N Ocean Shore Blvd) or online at www.gamblerogersfest.org or by calling Paul at 904 794 4163. Doors will open at 6 PM and music will begin at 7. There will be light refreshments and souvenir merchandise available as well as a raffle of musically oriented goodies. The Whitney Laboratory Lohman auditorium is located at 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd, adjacent to Marineland. All proceeds from this event support the not-for-profit mission of the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival Inc., an all volunteer 501(c)3 enterprise dedicated to perpetuating the memory and legacy of local star and hero Gamble Rogers while producing affordable Americana music events and financially supporting arts and music education.
