Capturing Light and Color En Plein Air Workshop w/Kami Mendlik

at Unknown

The first two days we will be working on designing and composing a landscape painting, by painting many small studies, “starts” in value and color. The initial decision of what needs to be in a painting and what doesn’t need to be in the painting can strengthen your work right from the start! Kami will be teaching you how to best structure the landscape by learning how to simplify the important shapes to create the strongest carrying power in the piece. Day three will be focusing on properties of COLOR - hue, value, temperature, and saturation by working from a limited palette of a warm and cool of each primary. You will learn a step-by-step approach to seeing and mixing the relative color of the light which is the key to creating harmony in your work.
