Friends welcomes Matt Armstrong, Collections Coordinator at the University of Florida Historic St. Augustine Governor’s House Library, to discuss the preservation movement in St. Augustine in the 1960s.
May is Historic Preservation Month! Join Friends and learn how downtown St. Augustine was transformed in the 1960s through preservation and reconstruction efforts, driven by the 400th anniversary celebration in 1965. Through research and a variety of private and public partnerships we ended up with the St. Augustine that we know and love today.
Our special guest, Matt Armstrong, is the Collections Coordinator at the University of Florida Historic St. Augustine Governor’s House Library. Matt has lived in St. Augustine since 2004, is a Flagler College and UF alum, and also plays in the local folk trio Aslyn and the Naysayers.
