Sugar Skulls, Masks & Catrinas

Presented by Southeast Branch Library at Southeast Branch Public Library

Mexico has a long and colorful tradition of celebrating life through art dating back to the Aztec Indians. Join cultural artist Irma Reed-Castellanos to discover the meaning behind the tradition of sugar skulls, masks, and catrinas as part of Dia de los Muertos. Irma creates and molds masks and catrinas using a paper-mache mixture, a fascinating art form which is still practiced by millions of people today. In this FREE presentation she will explain the historical facts and their relationship to her artwork, which will also be on display at the Southeast Library from October 7th through November 2nd.
