Located in Historic St. Augustine Florida, Michael’s offers a casually elegant dining experience with a celebrated chef, dedicated staff, and passion for exquisite flavors and world-class wines. Michael’s has received numerous honors and accolades. The Wine Spectator has awarded Michael’s wine list its Award of Excellence for the eleven years in a row.

Chef Michael has also been recognized as Best Chef of St. Augustine from several of the city’s publications. The restaurant was featured on The Food Network with Chef Emeril Lagasse during Florida’s 500th anniversary. Chef Michael was a competitor in Guy’s Grocery Games in 2019.

Chef Michael Lugo was married in St. Augustine in 2002 and fell in love with the city. It reminded him of Puerto Rico where he was born, and he knew this was the place to fulfill his childhood culinary dream. He and his wife moved to St. Augustine, planting their roots in the community, and in 2006 open the doors of Michael’s Tasting Room.

Michael’s is located on the scenic Calle Cuna in the heart of Historic Downtown St. Augustine. The building began as the Buchanti House that dates back to 1764 and was made famous by the Whitney Family of Marineland, who refurbished the historic home for the city’s 400th anniversary. The building later spent time as Wheeler’s Christmas store until Chef Michael and his wife Stephanie converted the structure into a restaurant in 2006.

The menu changes seasonally, focusing on Spanish- and Puerto Rican-inspired cuisine with influence from the finest local ingredients.

Michael’s is a member of the St. Augustine Independent Restaurant Association, recognized for its commitment to maintaining the highest standards for hospitality and culinary excellence with a community conscious.
