The Signature of the Chief

Chief Francisco Jospogue moved into St. Augustine near the end of life. His clear signature concludes a request to the king to reward long service to Spain. His petition and church records allow us to follow him and his family for 100 years, when the territorial contest in the Southeast between England and Spain ensnared all.
