Farewell Celebration & Gathering
Amiro Art & Found is seven years old. In a historic city that may not sound like very long. But this alliance of diverse artists has become a mainstay of the downtown artistic community and brought pleasure to thousands. Their location at 9 Aviles Street has been sold and renovations will begin soon.
Amiro is a Timucuan word meaning ‘abundance’. It was chosen to honor the first peoples who occupied the area now called St. Augustine. There has been an abundance of artists featured at this gallery over the years. Often forty artists displayed at a time. Close to sixty overall. They opened their doors after Hurricane Matthew to the artists at Butterfield Garage Gallery who suffered greatly then. They also were proud to participate in the obelisk project of Compassionate St. St. Augustine.
The gallery asks you, the community, to come help them say farewell on Saturday February 24th from 5-9pm. Aside from the usual fabulous art (at great going away prices!) there will be music by Swamp Yankees and jamming too! There will be food and other surprises as well.
