Artwork Theme & Requirements
Since the Ancient City Mosaic canvases will be part of the 450th Commemoration signature exhibition titled “Tapestry: The Cultural Threads of First America,” the artwork will be a representation of the current people and culture of St. Augustine. Therefore, the theme is St. Augustine through my eyes.
All entries must be original and of the artist’s own concept. Classroom work is acceptable. Work cannot be ready to hang or be framed. Each entry will be accepted only as a 6”x 8” work. Any medium welcomed, including three-dimensional or mixed-media work.
Artwork on Display
The artwork provided by The Red Sable and the community will be displayed as a grand mosaic from April 4 to Oct. 4, 2015, at the Visitor Information Center, 10 W. Castillo Drive, as part of the 450th Commemoration signature exhibition titled “Tapestry: The Cultural Threads of First America.” The exhibition is open daily during the above-mentioned dates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more about the “Tapestry” exhibition.
Artwork Pick Up
After the exhibition, the goal of the project is to find a permanent home for the artwork to become a St. Augustine 450th Commemoration legacy project. The goal is to have a permanent display available to view and enjoy long after the 450th Commemoration has passed. The final location of the legacy project is to be determined. When submitting artwork, artists will be asked if they’d like their artwork to be part of the legacy project or if they would like to have their artwork returned. Artwork to be returned can be picked up the week after the exhibition closes.
