High end art at rock bottom prices — that’s what gallerygoers can expect during Butterfield Garage Art Gallery’s annual Garage Sale Show, beginning during the First Friday Art Walk on August 7. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the opportunity for art lovers to find lots of exciting bargains.“This is always our most popular show,” said Jan Miller, who founded the gallery as a co-op in 1999 and named it after its building’s first use as a parking garage and automobile showroom, “because it’s truly a garage sale where you can ferret out your treasures.” The treasures include paintings, original prints, photography, sculpture, mixed media pieces, jewelry, ironwork and handcrafted furniture, along with unique baskets, wall hangings and wearing apparel from talented fiber artists. Discounted due to minor flaws, such as slightly damaged frames, or because they are older works or experimental works, the valuable art objects will be priced to sell.
This Butterfield Garage tradition has become a perennial favorite among savvy shoppers seeking great prices on great art. The special exhibition will continue through September 1 at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery, 137 King Street, St. Augustine. The gallery is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For further information, please call 904-825-4577, visit the website at www.butterfieldgarage.com, or contact Jan Miller at janmille@bellsouth.net
