Artist Talk 6pm is an opportunity to understand Tina’s unique approach to photographing her subjects.
Photography has always been a part of Tina’s life. She was raised in a family where art and travel were the centerpiece of focus. Her father, Fritz Henle was a preeminent photographer and she acquired her first camera from him at the age twelve. She grew up on the island of St. Croix and traveled to Europe with her family in the summers. In 1984 she received a BA in Art and Anthropology from the University of New Mexico and worked and mentored with her father throughout the 1980’s. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in the Caribbean and the US.
Tina’s work, along with her father and sisters is a feature article in Old City Life Magazine’s July Issue. It coincides with an exhibit of all their work at Lost Art Gallery and Sea Spirits Gallery. Tina currently resides in St. Augustine and St. Croix where she freelances as a wedding, portrait, and commercial photographer and is constantly adding to her fine art portfolio. She is the owner of the Henle Studio Art Gallery in St. Croix and a member of the Butterfield Garage Art Gallery in St. Augustine.
Tina’s love of travel and experiencing other cultures has taken her to all parts of the world. In describing her process and approach to photography Tina says: “I have always been a “straight” photographer with little or no manipulation of imagery, attuning to optimal compositions and lighting, often seeking an abstraction of subject or an irony and ambiguity of a situation be it people, landscape or artifact. For the past forty years, the medium of photography has allowed me the immediacy of connection and expression to offer the viewer a window into my world and to different ways of seeing. I am a wanderer at heart and photography gives me the focus and tool for my vision.“
Tina’s photography will be featured at Butterfield Garage Gallery during the month of July. Come meet Tina, view a collection of her thought-provoking work First Friday, July 6 from 5-9. Tina will be presenting an artist talk at 6 pm in the Butterfield Gallery.
Butterfield Garage Gallery is an artist-run gallery with 30 artist members. it is open 11-5 every day of the week.
