ECO Cinema "Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch" POSTPONED

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s Green Hands Initiative, in partnership with the St. Augustine Film Society, The Golden Way, and Beaches Go Green proudly present the St. Augustine EcoCinema: A Four-Part Environmental Film Series featuring screenings of environmental documentaries.

April 7, June 16, August 4, and October 6 of 2020, the community is invited to view four documentaries addressing the environmental topics of plastic pollution, rising sea levels, food waste, and marine habitat destruction. The documentaries will be shown on the Front Porch at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre followed by a question and answer session with local experts and organizations to share information on ways to positively address these four areas of environmental concern. Parking is free and all four screening events are free and open to the public due to generous sponsorships made by the Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre (FOSAA) and Maritime Creative. Seating on the Front Porch is on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Kicking off the series on Tuesday, April 7 will be “Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” the multiple award-winning independent documentary film that chronicles Angela Sun’s personal journey of discovery to one of the most remote places on Earth, Midway Atoll, to uncover the truth behind the mystery of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Along the way she encounters scientists, celebrities, legislators, and activists who shed light on what our society’s consumption of disposable plastic is doing to our oceans — and what it may be doing to our health.
