The St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum announces a major event in April to commemorate the legacy of Cinematic Swashbuckler Errol Flynn. We will be the proud hosts of Errol’s daughter, popular author Rory Flynn. The St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum announces a major event in April to commemorate the legacy of Cinematic Swashbuckler Errol Flynn. We will be the proud hosts of Errol’s daughter, popular author Rory Flynn. Ms. Flynn will be available to meet with pirate enthusiasts and will screen two (2) classics from her father’s oeuvre, ‘Captain Blood’ and ‘The Sea Hawk.’
The crux of the celebration takes place on Saturday, April 11th with FREE events for the public on the grounds of the Colonial Quarter at 33 St. George Street, including:
– ‘Captain Blood’ trivia and Errol Flynn look-alike contests. Face painting and moustaches available for Flynn impersonators.
– Specialty drinks in honor of the films to be available at the Taberna Del Caballo, located within the Colonial Quarter grounds.
– Jamie Jackson of Pusser’s Rum will speak on aspects of pirate favorites Rum and Grog, and will be providing samples of each within the Mercado building on the Colonial quarter property
– Book signings by Flynn (‘The Baron of Mulholland” – Rory’s memoir about her famous father will be available for purchase at the event). – Q&A sessions about the films.
– Visitations from Captain William Mayhem, The Pirate Magician of St. Augustine – as well as Pirates and Swashbucklers galore.
– On-site silhouette artist.
– Music at the Taberna del Caballo from local piratical favorites Dirty James and others.
– A Black Powder finale salute!
Following is a timeline for the main events of the evening, taking place under the Colonial Oak:
5:30PM – Welcome and introduction by Rory Flynn
5:45 PM – Jamie Jackson of Pusser’s Rum, Info about Rum and Grog tastings
6:15 PM– 80th anniversary screening of “Captain Blood” (Flynn’s jacket from this film has a permanent home in the Pirate Museum)
8:15 PM – Sword fighting demonstrations
8:45 PM – 75th anniversary screening of “The Sea Hawk”
While only those age 21 and up will be invited to partake in the specialty drink and Rum & Grog tastings, of course – this is a family event and all ages are welcome to attend.
