Impressions of Provence

Sally Paulson exhibits original works from her “Impressions of Provence” series in the St. Johns Cultural Council’s Art in Public Places exhibit. Sally Paulson grew up in Pennsylvania, but has spent most of her life at the Beaches in Florida.  She was given her first camera by her grandmother, an artist and a teacher, who encouraged her to have fun taking photos, and also helped her explore many different forms of visual art.

Since 2003, Sally has spent considerable time every summer in the south of France, which has inspired her to look at everyday life and to share her impressions through her photography.  She is an Artist Member of The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.

This exhibition features 38 photographic works taken in many of the beautiful small villages and surrounding areas in the south of France.  These show such everyday life as the vegetable markets, the cafés, the interesting doors and windows, and especially the lavender and sunflower fields – all seen in summer.  The photos have been slightly manipulated digitally, adding layers and texture to create a “painterly” look.

The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra is a not for profit organization whose mission is to bring the arts into the life of our communities through arts education, art appreciation and community outreach.
