Mother’s Day happens during the month of May and all are invited to write poems and share words that relate to those who have given us life. If you look to music for inspiration, the possibilities are endless: Mothers of Invention, Mother Love Bone, Atomic Mother Heart, “Ma Ma Mama, Weer All Crazee Now”. Turn your creative juices loose and share poems with mother as the muse.
The theme is meant as a writing prompt and it is your choice if you want to follow the theme or not. Give us two or three of your polished poems or share fresh ink from your notebook. Invite a friend or two or three to cheer you on.
A sign-up sheet will be available at 2:30 and the open mic will start at 3:00 pm. Readers will be called to the podium in the order their names appear on the list. The mic will be turned off at 4:30 to allow the last 30 minutes for a meet and greet and networking.
In order to keep these gatherings free of charge, we do ask that you patronize the Corazon and thank them for opening their doors to poetry and spoken word and performance art. Their full cafe menu will be available during the event so please come prepared to buy a sandwich, beverage, or sweet treat. Here is the menu:
