TIM MALCHAK
A veteran of 40 years in the music business, singer-songwriter Tim Malchak has persevered through many victories and failures.
Many of those experiences shine through in his music. Tim has recorded a total of 14 albums including seven Christian CD’s. As an international and award winning recording artist in Nashville during the ’80s, Tim first came to be known in the music industry during that time with a string of Top 40 hit singles in Billboard’s Country Music Charts.
Songs like his self-penned “Colorado Moon” and “Restless Angel” helped to establish him as a gifted and influential singer/songwriter.
Later, in 1987 he was honored once again by Billboard Magazine as one of the Top Ten New Country Artists of that year. All while on an independent record label, Alpine Records.
In 1988 he signed a major label record deal with MCA/Universal Records and in May of 1989 his critically acclaimed album “Different Circles” was released.
During that time he shared the stage with a veritable Who’s Who of country artists of that decade. People like Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Kenny Rogers, Emmylou Harris, Barbara Mandrell, Willie Nelson, and the list goes on.
In 1993 Tim appeared on Farm Aid VI in Ames Iowa that was viewed by over 200 million viewers on TNN.
He will be performing many of his original songs at Limelight Theatre on June 26.
“I began playing and singing when I was 9, and I’ve been performing for 50 years,” Tim said.
“My musical influences are Dan Fogelberg, Jim Croce, and James Taylor.”
STU WEAVER
A local favorite, Stu Weaver built a loyal following through touring before settling in St. Augustine. He has recorded six albums, playing virtually every note on all of them.
His credits include performances at Carolina Street Scene and the Nashville Italian Street Fair as well as coffeehouses, clubs and colleges throughout the United States.
Stu has opened for many major folk artists, including John Gorka, Gamble Rogers, Dave Potts and Rod MacDonald. Stu (under the pseudonym ‘Sean Schuyler’) also hosts “Messages” every Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. on WFCF 88.5 FM, a singer-songwriter radio show which he created in 1994 to expose more listeners to mostly acoustic music with meaningful lyrics.
He performs regularly at Harry’s (on Mondays) and at Taberna del Caballo (Thursdays), and on weekends in Jacksonville venues.
“I’ve been playing and singing since grade school. Currently I’m in my 30th year of performing professionally,” Stu explained.
“My musical influences include Dan Fogelberg, Jim Croce and most every guy who sang a ballad in the 1970s.”
Stu will join Tim in performing original tunes during their performance at Limelight.
