PARASITE

Academy Award winning Best Director Bong Joon Ho’s pitch-black modern fairytale. Two families, one upper middle class and the other rich in street smarts but not much else. These two houses are brought together thru fate, kismet, call it what you will. Masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim (lower class) children install themselves as tutor and art therapist, to the Parks (wealthier family). Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks.
The above is a paraphrased film description frequently seen in print but here is no way to adequately describe in words what you see on the screen, and I’m not sure the trailer does much better. It is one of the most bizarre depictions of class warfare you’ll ever see. An absolutely brilliant film.
