Every author tries to write the best book possible and hopes the reading public agrees. But marketing books takes more than hope, and today it usually means exploring the ever-changing and often puzzling world of social media. Ron Whittington is both an author and a public relations guru who will supply some of the answers with his presentation, “Improve Book Sales Using Social Media,” at the FWA Ponte Vedra Writers meeting on Saturday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Library.
“From Facebook to Instagram, put your best social face forward to attract readers and potential buyers,” Whittington says. And in his presentation he’ll cover these three key topics:
1. Best practices on social media.
2. How to identify audiences using various social media platforms.
3. The importance of website optimization and social media.

He served as a ghostwriter on two national best-selling books, and his articles have been published in Texas Business, Texas Monthly, Jacksonville Magazine, the Florida Times-Union, and Water’s Edge.
His first Parker Glynn thriller, Second Strike (2010), was followed by a sequel, Doppelganged. His third book in the series, Free Surface Effect, is due out this year. An Atlanta native and a proud Texan, Ron and his family reside in Jacksonville Beach.
