Preservation Next: Finding our Legacy in St. Augustine’s Heritage

Preservation efforts in St. Augustine successfully created an image of Spanish Colonial St. Augustine and recognized the significance of our historic neighborhoods and places built before the second World War.  A regulatory system was also put in place to promote preservation of cultural resources above ground and below ground.  So what will be preserved for the next generation as a result of our stewardship?  The diversity of cultural resources has broadened into the post-War era up to the early 1970s, new tools for preservation are available, and the environment of St. Augustine has evolved to witness the results of those first preservation efforts.  Members of the St. Augustine community are encouraged to consider what is unique and authentic to our modern heritage
