St. Johns Reads Event: Slave Narratives

Dr. Lori Lee, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Flagler College, discusses the Works Progress Administration workers’ interviews with former slaves in the 1930s. These interviews reveal important information about the lives of enslaved people just prior to emancipation. They also offer insight into issues of identity and race in the 1930s.
