Part of Florida Living History, Inc.’s (FLH’s) 2015 “St. Augustine’s 450th Anniversary” commemorations, this 275th anniversary historical re-enactment of the 1740 Spanish victory at the “Battle of Bloody Mose” features a two-day military encampment and combined muster of FLH’s re-enactors and the Fort Mose Militia, as well as British and Scottish living-history troops from across the Southeast and local volunteers. Fort Mose is the site of the first, legally sanctioned free black settlement in the continental U.S., established in 1738.
