The “Battle of Bloody Mose” Commemoration

Part of Florida Living History, Inc.’s (FLH’s) 2015 “St. Augustine’s 450th Anniversary” commemorations, this 275th anniversary historical re-enactment of the 1740 Spanish victory at the “Battle of Bloody Mose” features a two-day military encampment and combined muster of FLH’s re-enactors and the Fort Mose Militia, as well as British and Scottish living-history troops from across the Southeast and local volunteers.  Fort Mose is the site of the first, legally sanctioned free black settlement in the continental U.S., established in 1738.

Admission to this heritage event is free of charge to the public. There is a Museum admission fee of $2.00 per adult; children, age 5 and younger, are free.
