The Shooter - Gun Violence in America

In “The Shooter,” Lee and Nanette Weaver (Bill and Joan Blake) are husband and wife in the throes of producing a PBS documentary for television. Bill is a confident gun-lover and Second Amendment advocate, while Joan is the opposite – reform-minded, equally adamant in favor of increased gun control.

A line up of ten chairs at stage rear, each with a distinctive garment or prop, is a visual hint as to the “The Shooter” format; interviews with individuals, ten in all – five in ACT I and five in ACT II – whose lives have been impacted by gun violence: a Sandy Hook Police Officer, the father  of dead first graders, the  husband of a slain wife, a US Army veteran Muslim and his family now tormented because of The Pulse shooting in Orlando, a first responder doctor at The AME Church in South Carolina, a clergyman from Parkland FL and a synagogue president from Pittsburgh, PA, and more, all impressively portrayed by Weaver in an amazing series of character portrayals.
