Wednesday Brown Bag Lunch Program - William and Nancy Duval: Florida Pioneers

Join Friends as we welcome Florida Storytellers David Fussell and Kathy Kniers presenting Florida Pioneers William and Nancy Duval.

Florida Storytellers and reenactors David Fussell and Kathy Kniery will bring to life William P. DuVal and his wife Nancy through a series of stories.  DuVal was the first territorial governor of Florida, succeeding Andrew Jackson, the military governor. William DuVal was born at Mount Comfort, Va., in 1784. At the age of 14, he left home for the Kentucky frontier, settling in Bardstown to study law. In 1822 he moved to Florida, where he was appointed a territorial judge. He served about a month at St. Augustine before President James Monroe
