Guitar Wizardry - Jonathan Dotson

In the first concert of Romanza Festivale’s Collage Concert Series, Dr. Jonathan Dotson, virtuoso classical guitarist, presents a program of Spanish guitar music spanning nearly five centuries, from early music of the 1500s to contemporary arrangements and original works. Dotson’s concerts have been described as a kaleidoscope of sounds, styles, and emotions that leave audiences stunned and grateful.

Dr. Dotson, a St. Augustine native, has performed hundreds of concerts as a classical guitarist across the globe. In 2014 he was invited to perform a concert at the Basilica of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, a performance that was followed by tours of China, Argentina, Mexico, and the United States.

Dotson has served on the faculty of several institutions including the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley, where he served as lecturer of classical guitar for over a decade. He currently teaches general music at Duval Charter School at Mandarin.

Dr. Dotson’s program will include works by Alonso Mudarra, J.S. Bach, Isaac Albeniz, Django Reinhardt, Journey, and much, much more.
