This event is open to the public.
The Flagler College Archives and Special Collections series, Meet the Collections and Curators, is proud to partner with the Lightner Museum, Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center, the St. Augustine Lighthouse, the Florida National Guard, the Camp Blanding Museum, Marineland, and the National Park Services’ archives for Northeast Florida to present a “pop-up” exhibit related to World War II. Some of the collections focus on the Florida experience or soldiers from Florida while other collections have a wider coverage of the war years and experience.
2020 is the final year of the 75th anniversary of World War II, and some of the institutions in and around St. Augustine want to remember the war by sharing with the public what they have. Please come and see what treasures lie hidden in archives, libraries, and museums in Northeast Florida and have an opportunity to talk to the curators of these collections.
COVID-19 Restrictions:
- Masks are required to be worn in the Lightner Museum.
- Please maintain social distancing between family units.
- Please understand that, due to social distancing/room capacity, guests may not be able to enter the exhibit at the time of arrival. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
- The Lightner Museum is graciously waiving its admission fee for attendees of this event to tour the museum. If interested, a special event sticker will be provided at the “registration” table to be worn on a shirt or blouse for identification purposes by Lightner personnel. Anyone not wearing this special sticker will be charged the usual admission fee.
Special thanks to the Veterans Council of St. Johns County for assisting with advertising this event!
