"Promenade the Alcazar" Art Contest

Calling all artists: the Lightner Museum is hosting a contest for its upcoming anniversary event on October 19^th, 2018, “Promenade the Alcazar.” This event will celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Alcazar Hotel and the 70^th anniversary of the Lightner Museum. Activities will include a Wine Walk throughout the museum and grounds with delectable food pairings, and live entertainment featuring various musical performances.

The public is invited to submit original artworks inspired by the theme of the upcoming anniversary event, “Promenade the Alcazar”. Winning artwork will be selected by museum staff and will most closely reflect the museum’s vision and needs for promoting the event. The lucky winner’s artwork will be used as the face of this luxurious event AND receive a $1,000 cash prize. Henry Flagler intended for St. Augustine to be the “French Riviera of the South” so we are looking for a piece that truly embodies the extravagance and decadence of the Art Nouveau era, and the museums ‘Get Gilded’ theme. All mediums are welcome, be creative!

Artists will receive name recognition, a press release on their winning piece, and a blog post featured on the Lightner Museum website. The winning piece will be showcased at the museum’s grand event and used for promotional materials. This is the perfect opportunity for students and locals to showcase their talents, and get their names out there by being part of history at the Lightner Museum!

Rules:

• The museum requests each piece be submitted electronically by May 31, 2018 to Communications@Lightnermuseum.org
• Please include size, medium and title.
• There are no size limits, but we do intend to showcase the winning piece the night of the event.
• Winners will be chosen by July 1st, 2018.
• Contestants may be contacted before the final decision date to bring in their original artwork.
