
Unique, immersive, interactive event reenacting the perilous flight of Africans who are escaping enslavement on British plantations and seeking freedom in St. Augustine, circa 1738. Reenactment unfolds on the actual historic site.
Step onto the Freedom Trail at Fort Mose Historic State Park, and leap back in time! Encounter Fort Mose Historical Society reenactors as they draw you in to a dangerous world where Africans flee from enslavement on British plantations and seek freedom in Spanish Florida. Experience formation of the original Underground Railroad through assistance from Natives. Share the fears, sacrifices and hopes of the freedom seekers ast they undergo their perilous journey across 300 miles of swamps, forests and water ways.

This is a free event with no reservations or ticketing required for individual participants. For group reservations please contact Connect@FortMose.org.
Museum entrance fee is $2. No charge for children 6 and under.
Masks and social distancing required. Entrance to the event may be restricted due to COVID regulations limiting Park capacity.
