Esther Burns is a local screenwriter who studied film production at Penn State, later narrowing her focus to screenwriting.

Her work has placed in the Quarterfinals of the PAGE Awards, the Fade In Awards, and the ASA’s International Screenplay Competition; 2nd Round in the Slamdance Screenplay Competition.

Burns’s latest screenplay puts a spotlight on all things Ancient City… the way those curious archaeological sites around town flay open its bittersweet history, how the Castillo de San Marcos transports you back 300 years, the mysterious Llambias and her beckoning courtyard.

A romantic dramedy, The Double Cross tells the story of a son who returns home to St. Augustine to sell the old house his mother has left him. His plans, however, are thwarted when he discovers a Spanish colonial woman stuck down the well. Not only does this time traveler refuse to leave, but she claims the house is hers, setting the two up for a tumultuous affair and a shocking revelation.
